Two
issues set the stage for work-related conflict: an interdependent relationship
between the parties involved and deep concern about what is going on. Conflict does not occur when the parties involved are
apathetic. When conflict is
suppressed, the negative feelings only intensify; when it is confronted
constructively, it can produce positive results. There
are five methods for dealing with conflict; most people only utilize one or
two. Each method is useful depending on the situation.
A person who is able to utilize all five methods, therefore, will be
more successful in conflict situations. In
this workshop, people will learn how they typically react in conflict
situations. They will also
practice using those modes in which they have had little or no experience.
